How we name our products
Why 'vegan' why not just say 'pleather'. Well not all pleather is vegan friendly due to the glue that can sometimes be used to fuse the materials.
The individual names of the products are named after friends and family.
Our harnesses are made using 100% vegan polyurethane "leather" which is inherently more eco-friendly than most other plastics. It also doesn't contain any chemicals that interfere with endocrine and hormone systems, nor does it contribute to PH change in soil or water.
The image that automatically appears in your head when you hear “plastic waste” is probably of a heaping lump of plastic trash at a landfill or the numerous amount of bottles you see floating in the ocean. Of these scenes and of the waste we produce, 95 percent of it is thermoplastic, whereas polyurethane comprises only 2 percent of this waste.
This is a very strong material and able to withstand heat and moisture, which means that waste is reduced, because a single polyurethane item, such as our harnesses, can be used repeatedly for longer periods than other materials and will not stretch or wear out like PVC or other plastic alternatives. Another reason polyurethane is more environmentally friendly is because it can be recycled and used again. Oftentimes, polyurethane can be recycled into a very similar product that it was originally made for. Since polyurethane is able to take on many forms, it is easy to melt down and use a mould for discarded materials to make a new part or product.
Because Polyurethane is non-toxic it will not irritate or cause any toxic negative effects to your skin and is also more breathable than other types of synthetic leather, such as PVC.
Why not real leather?
Huge amounts of fossil fuels are consumed in livestock production as well, and cow-derived leather has almost three times the negative environmental impact as its synthetic counterparts, including polyurethane (PU) leather.
The production of leather hurts animals, the environment, and the workers who manufacture it. The only ones who benefit are people who profit from the misery and suffering of others. Thankfully, there are plenty of sustainable vegan leather options to choose from today that mimic the properties of leather without the cruelty to animals or environmental devastation.
For ethical and environment reasons we have chosen to use Polyurethane as our products are not mass produced, they are small batch produced and designed to last and not be thrown away.
Future plans for materials
We understand that while we are very environmentally conscious, our Polyurethane harnesses may not be the best sustainable choice long term and as we grow. That’s why we are currently looking into biodegradable vegan leather options such as pineapple and cactus leathers. Once these options are viable and accessible, we will make the switch.
Our hardware is made from Iron and is Nickel free. Nickel is a metal substance that is not good for the human body. Our hardware is hang plating (a kind of colouring process), better than barrel-roll plating, it looks smoother and brighter and not easy to fade.

Eco – conscious
We are an environmentally conscious brand for many reasons. Firstly, we are a small batch production business, not mass produced. We have already explained our Harness materials, but did you know our main type of Shibari rope is made from eco – friendly Bamboo cord? We also accept no plastic into our studio for packaging etc. Our packaging is made from cupboard and our mailers are made from eco – friendly 100% compostable materials. Even our little baggies that we pack your lollies in are biodegradable as well. We are always looking for ways to minimise our negative impact on the environment while remaining an ethical and vegan friendly.
Please let us know if there are any ways we can be doing better!
Unfortunately, we do not offer custom orders. We design and have our harnesses made in small batch production. But we do love feedback so if you think we are missing something from our range, please let us know.
Can I get discreet packaging?
Of course, please just leave us a note at checkout to let us know and your order will arrive in unbranded external packaging.
If you also need discreet internal packaging please specify.
Disclaimer: Lolli Wraps does not claim 'real' leather products. This is merely a word to describe the look of the material.
Lolli Wraps does not claim environmentally friendly as all harness products impact on the environment to varying degrees, both real leather and faux leather.
However, we do make environmentally conscious decisions when deciding on the materials and have chosen a material less impactful than alternative options such as PVC.
We promise to always look for way to further improve our impact such as our packaging being made from 100% biodegradable materials from our mailers to our boxes.
